We are constantly looking into new ways to make Cambridge Dining Co. more sustainable and environmentally friendly. This extends from our kitchen and office out onto all of our events. We are continually evolving our company ethos to encourage our staff and clients to consider the environment when planning our events.

CHARITY

We are very proud to support local charity, Cambridge City Foodbank. Having started out as a caterer, we are passionate about food and believe everyone should have access to nutritious meals, regardless of circumstance. The Foodbank provides three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food packs to local people who are in crisis. It is a lifeline to people in the community in their time of need working to combat poverty and hunger.

IT TAKES A CITY

Cambridge Dining Co. are proud to collaborate with our partners Cambscuisine and Cambridge Community City foundation in supporting local charity It Takes A City.

It Takes a City is a citywide partnership responding collaboratively to the issue of homelessness in Cambridge. Cambridge Dining Co. will be supporting the shelter by delivering hot, nutritious meals weekly to residents during the winter period via our ‘Workplace Catering’ system.

We are proud to be a businesses that gives back to our community by supporting various local charities and It Takes A City is no exception.

Doing our bit for the environment is a key part of the Cambridge Dining Co. ethos. We are careful to ensure minimal food wastage in our production processes and at our events which comes with many years of catering experience. Please take a look at what else we are doing as a company below;

Working with Cambridge City Food Bank by encouraging and matching donations (3000 meals donated to date)
Working with ‘It takes a city’ supplying meals for the homeless in Cambridge over the winter period
Using BioLPG gas (44% less carbon than normal LPG gas)
Recycling all cooking oil
Recycling all card, bottles and plastic
Composting our food waste
Offering sustainable canapes
Reducing the use of ruminent meats in our menus
Providing meat free lunchs for our staff
Employing local people – supporting the local economy
Developing staff from within and having an apprenticeship programme
Only using suppliers with sustainability policies
Sourcing fish from sustainable methods
Using recyclable & compostable packaging on all of our events
Using recyled toilet paper!

PEOPLE

Our team are what make Cambridge Dining Co. an amazing place to work, and keep our clients coming back year after year. We have a ‘develop from within’ approach with staff, training and promoting our existing team to gain new skills and take on new responsibilities.

With a bank of over 100 casual staff members, we are committed to equality of opportunity across our organisation. At all levels we promote equality, ensuring our people are consistently treated in a fair and equal manner.

LOCAL COMMUNITY

Investing in and developing local people is important for our community and an essential part of our plan as we grow. We are proud to work with Cambridge Regional College and offer apprenticeships as part of our staff development.

Here at Cambridge Dining Co. we take great pride in our professional in-house training programme which helps to further develop our staff’s skills, install confidence and boost team morale. We aspire to have the smartest, most professional and friendly staff in the business, therefore our selective recruitment process and extensive training ensures the high quality of delivery at our events.

SUSTAINABLE CANAPES

Our mission since 2024 has been to include a sustainable canapé at every wedding.
Created from excess food which would have gone to waste, we can help reduce our food wastage whilst still using fresh, natural ingredients to make delicious canapés.
